![]() Heading up coal wash was gorgeous in the fall with the trees changing colors and the deep sandy canyon made for fun riding! We went left on this day and did Slipper Arch a different day. From here you can go right to Slipper Arch and Fix It Pass or left to Coal Wash. The end of Devils Racetrack will pop you out in a sandy canyon. The Devils Racetrack is the first half of the video. We will share a video at the bottom of the trek that will do a better job showing the obstacles. You climb up a rock shelf and back down the other side. Next you will begin the technical portion of the ride. The trail then passes through an open desert with views of Chimney Rock. Next up the trail passes right at the rim of a deep canyon with great views. This is a small 20 foot wide arch but is fun to see because you can get so close to it. My crudely drawn black line on the map above is the route we took but make sure you plan your own route ahead of time and go in with a good map.īeginning on the trail you will quickly come to Dutchman Arch shortly after going underneath the highway. A good map is really nice in this area because there are many intersecting social trails. Once on the opposite side of the freeway take the main road and stay to the right at the main intersection after about one half mile. The coordinates for this underpass are at the top of the trek. You will then take the easy dirt road that stays close to the freeway for about a mile before using the 4×4 underpass that will take you to the Head of Sinbad area. Please respect the area, stay on the designated roads, and have a great time! You can access the area by taking exit 131 on I-70 about 30 minutes outside Green River, Utah. The routes in the swell are still under attack and any funny business can be used as ammunition to kick us off these trails forever. Please be careful to keep this in mind as you enjoy this beautiful area. The existing routes are still allowed but one step off the road is now considered wilderness. ![]() This area has recently been made a wilderness area. You could also make a loop with the Fix It Pass trail. We connected Devils Racetrack with the Coal Wash and Eva Conover trails to make a great loop. The ride has great views throughout with lots of variety. Devils Racetrack is a classic ride in the heart of the San Rafael Swell. ![]()
